As we approach father’s day, I’m reminded of all the things I didn’t learn from my father.
I didn’t learn how to hate from him; I didn’t learn bigotry or prejudice. My father never taught me
to disrespect others or to criticize anyone different from me.
My father never taught me dishonesty or lying. I didn’t get any lessons on stealing or cheating from him. My father never took the time to teach me how to be a drunk or use drugs. My father never got around to teaching me laziness; he was too busy working I suppose. Here I am today, the product of all the things my father never taught me. It’s been over 12 years since he left this world. I miss you dad.
